It was time to make some positive lifestyle changes for my health, I’m a professional sitter (desk job!) and was the heaviest I had ever been.
I saw an advert for muscle camp on Facebook so took the plunge and tried something completely alien to me. I started a 4-week female muscle camp, having never done any proper strength training, only cardio/ aerobics based exercise (and sporadically at that). When I came to muscle camp I hadn’t done anything consistently for a long time, was unfit and didn’t know what to expect. I was completely out of my comfort zone and the intensity of the training was a shock to the system, I struggled with most of it.
I persevered and in the process lost half a stone and a good few inches too. I moved on to becoming a regular at boot camp classes and have never looked back. I returned to muscle camps in August (I’m now on number 5!), looking to step up my training and knowing this is where I would get results, (a looming wedding will put the fear of God into you!)
I don’t think I realised what pushing yourself was until I started lifting weights. Having someone guide and encourage you to do more than you thought you could meant I was lifting more than I ever would have by myself. Now I know that what seems impossible leads to success (eventually!) if you are consistent and not afraid to keep trying. I can honestly say I love it, although I’m sure my face says otherwise most of the time! Classes are always hard, but always worth it.
The muscle camps are a great place to train and learn. Every trainer I have come across at FF Fitness has been fantastic. I’m training with a great group of girls who make it fun and we provide encouragement and support to each other.
Seamus always pushes you to do better, keeps finding new methods of torture to keep it interesting, provides a nutrition plan and regularly checks in to see how you are getting on with it. It’s only in the last few months I have really embraced the nutrition side of it (sorry Seamus!), and that combined with the training is when I started to see even better results. I’m now 3 stone lighter, fitter and healthier than ever!
I want to encourage anyone in my position to overcome their fears and give it a go, it’s the best thing I have ever done for my health (both mentally and physically).
To everyone at FF Fitness, especially Seamus, thanks for getting me this far, (I can be hard work, I know!) Slow and steady wins the race! Hopefully I’m not finished yet….
